RESOURCES FOR TEXAS HISTORY
A page for the use of middle school students and teachers who are studying Texas history, want to know more about its history or teaching Texas history. Resources have been checked by a school librarian in the Texas Panhandle.
GENERAL
Texas State Library and Archives is a wonderful place to find information on Texas. If you are doing a report on Texas, visit their area called Doing a Report on Texas. There are many other areas in the State library that are helpful.
Anyone who is studying Texas history should consult The Handbook of Texas.
Another good general source is the Texas Almanac.
Texas Tides is a good reference for teachers.
EXPLORATION
Learn about LaSalle by viewing the excavation of his ship La Belle that was done by Texas A & M.
NATIVE AMERICANS
Indian relations in Texas is found in the Texas State Library and Archives.
